Sue wrote next day
Hiya Jamie,
Just wanted to say thanks for letting us know about the comedy night, those guys were brilliant! I still keep laughing today when I remember the jokes. (heckeler) Nathan from the BBC was great, what a master of the one-liner!
See you on the 2nd October
xx Sue

Thursday 16th October
Well this was by far our best night but sadly it has to be our last at Charlie's for the time being. We have admitted defeat. The current Global Financial Crisis we HAVE to believe has just knocked the bol£$ks out of all who work in the city otherwise it must just be the case that they really ARE all bankers ...
Joking aside (who's joking), we thank our guests from City Socialising, One to One Enfield, BBC Ouch web site, The Bracey family, All our friends and family from Greenlow Kennels in Royston, GS Jet Tech, Nas, Sue, and friends from The WayOut Club. Thank you all for your support. We thank again Alex (from Laughing Horse) for arranging such great acts. We thank again Charlie's especially manager Lippy Laing for the hospitality.

Ivor (Jehovah) Dembina started us off with a superb, challenging energetic and thought provoking set from Imran Yusuf - 'Do they know its Christmas' will never sound the same again, to me and I have 'Jurassic Park' will forever remind me of Yusaf. Simon Douglas stood in with a good little set for Darren Ruddell. Professional hecklers from BBC Ouch, Nat and Gideon Goldberg, (voted on the night the most jewish name in history) were back. Kevin Hayes brought a fresh view of the Popes catholic notion of protection. That's 2" of bullet proof glass on his pope mobile, rather more than the few microns of rubber that may have saved us all from meeting his holyness. Liz Carr (the slut) bust me up totally. I just wish she had been on much longer. Her SO intelligent, eye opening, set had a surprising smuttyness that I adored. To top it all (are we talking smut) Scott Capurro, who apparently looks particularly good in black, gave a very slick set. Again I wanted more. What a way for us to go out.

So in summary a FANTASTIC night, with a comedy line up that combined a jewish, disabled, muslim, irish, gay eye opener, enjoyed by a warm loving family, joined by the gentlest group of swingers in town, a north london group who learnt they had no difficulty enjoying good comedy and not a 'banker' in sight, proving that at 'Funny Bizness' your never more than a yard away from a unique individual, a good laugh and for that matter a transvestite, but that's another story and another night - thankfully a profitable night.

Thursday 2nd October
At no expense to anyone but ourselves, we invited directly by post and fax over 1000 local city, care and medical workers, with FREE tickets for this night. We waited in anticipation to see scrubbed and suited seekers of a healthy laugh. We recognised that the economic climate has disturbing everyone most especially those that working in finance. And we had hoped for a positive bail out plan from Washington USA before our second night came round - but no joy there.
After investing £2000 ourselves in our new club with NO return, we REALLY do understand the rough end of economics. Despite this we took it on the chin the first night and hoped our invites would attract those who know laughter to be a good tonic in bad times. God knows WE needed a laugh after the results of our first week. Where were you ????

We thank all five most excellent comedians. We thank again all our friends who supported us. We thank again Alex for arranging such great acts. We thank again Charlie's especially manager Lippy Laing for the help hospitality and AGAIN the free pizzas.

To our potential guests we say - You miserable buggers get your arses down on the 16th October otherwise it will be our last night. The line up is the very best we have booked. Its FREE its friendly, its funny, its financialy a disaster so how's that for empathy, what more can we give you?

Thursday 18th September
We were all in tears … but “Tears of Laughter” ?
Yes despite the dire circumstances of what, some say, may be remembered as the economies 9/18 we still had a fantastic first night.
We realise that the 18th September may have been the worst day in the history of ‘Finance’ to open a ‘Comedy Club’ in the City of London.
To be sure - we need more support to afford to keep this new venture going.  We thank all our friends who supported us and hope that the few from the city that enjoyed the show will bring thier friends on our next night. We thank all five most excellent comedians. We thank Alex for supplying such great actsWe thank Charlie's especially manager Lippy Laing for the help hospitality and the free pizzas. Due to the mood of the city brought about by the economic crisis. We will give FREE tickets on our second night.

BBC OUCH!

Ouch is the BBC web site and radio station that features issues and people around the disabilty.

From the Ouch! interview ...
"Uppermost in my mind today is ...
The opening night of my club Funny Bizness. We've put a lot of work into it, so hopefully that will pay off. We have gathered together some extremely funny guys and girls some with all sorts of 'special needs' to do a turn. Being in the City of London the audience will mainly be business people but obviously the club is open to everyone.

On our first night I was immensly pleased to meet Emma who wrote the Ouch! interview and her friends Gideon, Oliver and Nathan.
This Ouch team was pleased to see, as promised, that on the 18th Sep our line up included a comedian with special needs. Steve Davis, who is deaf, used this fact to create some great comic content in his set.

Nathan proved to make a major impact on the night with headliner Martin Davies christening him the "comics favourite heckler"

Recent Press Release From Jamie 16-08-08

After being turned away from far too many comedy venues, Jamie Green thought OK I will start my own. Now it's not that 18 year old Jamie is an undesirable or wears incredibly dodgy trainers (though actually he does).

No it's because he has to use an electric wheelchair due to cerebral palsy and so few venues have good enough accessibility.
Funny Bizness Comedy Club is Jamie's brain child. "I found out that London's financial district does not have a comedy club and thought, wow those guys really need a laugh". So his venue is not only accessible but is also in the square mile opening on 18th September and subsequent Thursdays. Jamie explained "I know that those that work in the city, call Thursday night the beginning of the weekend and I am inviting the hard working lads and lasses to come on down to 'Funny Bizness', with their friends, after work for a good laugh. Our show has four tip top comedians and a comedy compere but it finishes at 10pm with plenty of time to catch the trains home. Though we also have great food throughout the evening and offer our bar and dancing till 4am for those in the mood"

Jamie is quite a comedian himself and after finding and identifying, with USA award winning comedian Josh Blue, who's material explains in hilarious fashion, what its like to have cerebral palsy - Jamie soon found other extremely funny guys and girls with all sorts of special needs, who deserve more time on stage. So Jamie says " you can occasionally expect some unusual minorities at Funny Bizness and that means fresh comedy material and a warm fuzzy feeling when you realize that you have been laughing with (not at), someone who could be perceived as less fortunate, (but who is actually twice as funny), than yourself"

.When asked how he is looking forward to opening night Jamie said "Just can't wait but it could be embarrassing if you print this and then our lift breaks down"

Last word has to be with Jamie who says " If you listen to the news you might think we are all going through some hard times, but until you come home sober and still can't get the key in the lock, you don't know what hard times are. Either way the only way to change hard times, into good times, is to have a good laugh and we have those in abundance just waiting for you at Funny Bizness"
